A beautiful memorial to the dead heroes
of the nation. Situated in Arlington Na-
tional Cemetery, Va. It is built of white
marble, in the form of an ellipse, the front
formed by a temple facing the Lincoln
Memorial across the Potomac in Washing-
ton City.
A broad stairway leads from a beautiful
garden to the temple. It was designed by
Carrere & Hastings of New York and cost
$750,000. It will seat 5000 people in the am-
phitheater proper, and several thousand
more in the colonnade.
