3,000 square miles of scenic beauty and the majestic Mount McKinley, elevation of 20,300 feet, the highest peak on the North American Continent. The Indians call the mountain Denali, "the home of the sun". As outposts to the mighty peak, stand Mount Foraker, elevation 17,000 feet, and Mount Russell, elevation 11,600 feet. All game in the park, and these include every Alaskan specimen, is protected. A roadhouse is conducted at the park entrance. Autos carry one for miles, over a splendid auto road, to dashing Savage River, Guides and horses can be procured. |
