Additional Details:
The Statue of Gen. Wm. Tecumseh Sherman. Washington, D.C., stands south of the U. S. Treasury and just southeast of the White House. It overlooks Pennsylvanis Ave., amid surroundings that are ideal for a colossal monument. The sculptor, Carl Rohl Smith, has portrayed Gen. Sherman, just as he rode up historic Pennsylvania Ave. many times in parade mid the plaudits of the people. The bas reliefs around the pedestal represent episodes of his life. It was erected by the Society of the Army of the Tenneasee. Cost $90,000.
