SUMMIT OF MT. WASHINGTON.-Mt. Washington, the
loftiest peak east of the Rockies and north of the Carolinas, is
6,293 ft. high. The climate is the same as Labrador and mid-
dle Greenland. The view-line from the summit sweeps
around a circle of nearly a thousand miles, embracing parts
of five states and the Province of Quebec.
