The Cosmotron at Brookhaven National Lab-
oratory, Upton, Long Island, N. Y., which ac-
celerates protons to billion-volt énergies, in
studies of the forces within the atomic nuc-
leus. To the rear of the synchrotron is the
new extension to the experimental area.
