Additional Details:
Mombasa is on the coast of British East Africa and is the eastern terminus of the Uganda Railway. Here the Roosevelt party disembarked and took train for Nairobi and the Ju-Ja Ranch of 20,000 acres of Mr. W.N. McMillan, the St. Louis millionaire, whose guests they were for a time. Mombasa was held for two centuries by the Portuguese who were the first nation to round the Cape of Good Hope and to make a settlement in West Africa. They were expelled from the country by the Arabs about the middle of the 18th century. It is a fortified town with an excellent harbor
