Th BILLINGS, MONTANA Among the many historical sites to see in and around Billings, Montana are the Indian Caves, which show historical Indian writings in picto- graphs; Custer's Battlefield, a national cemetery in southeastern Montana, where General George Custer and five companies of the 7th Cavalry were annihilated by the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians in 1876; and Pompey's Pillar, where Lewis and Clark stopped while on their way to the West Coast, leaving Captain Clark's name engraved in the rock.
