John Marsh, California pioneer, settled on this site in the 1850's and erected what was then the finest house in Central California. He operated a cattle ranch some 12 miles square and wrote much material which is now of historical interest. He was murdered near Martinez. The old house is unoccupied, but is in a good state of preservation
