Situated on the Atlantic Ocean eighteen miles east of Jacksonville, the gateway of Florida on State Road 78. It has a year round climate of 70 degrees. A fine fishing pier extends out on the ocean a rendezvous for the angler. Safety for the bather is assured by a Red Cross Life Saving Corp of about 60 or more men; this being the first Red Cross Station organized in the United States. Motor Races are regular events on these hard packed sand beaches, having a length of approximately forty miles. Its width at low tide can accommodate over 40 cars abreast. Its Hotels, shops, picture shows and other amusements and its concrete promenade, gaily lighted, serve week-end crowds of over a hundred thousand. Beautiful settings of sub-tropical palms and sand dunes are in evidence among the beautiful homes belonging to commuters and local residents which line the beaches and vicinity
