Formal ground-breaking ceremonies a for
the new "Home of the Army Dollar wero
held August 10, 1951. The building was dedi-
cated 26 months later, on October 9,- 1958.
This 1,000-by-600-foot building covering
acres, is the largest Army structure.
Nearly 5,000 workers and hundrla5706
electrical accounting machines are used in
the disbursement of more than two Billion
dollars annually, for allotments of pay, the
Army retired payroll, transportation bills of
the Army and Air Force, and several other
types of centralized payments.
In addition, the records of all payments
to Army personnel and contractors are au-
dited and stored for ready reference.
