The Carlyle House was built by John Carlyle in the year 1752. The Congress of Alexandria at the time of the French and Indian Wars met in the Blue Room of the Mansion. It was here that General Braddock decided, against Washington's advice, to make the disastrous expedition to Fort Duquesne
