Fort Francis E. Warren named after the
grand old Senator from Wyoming, is one of
the principal military posts of the army and
borders Cheyenne on the northwest.
In bygone days it was known as Ft. D. A.
Russell and was established during the days
of the Indians and Buffalo to protect the
Union Pacific Railroad as it advanced west-
ward over the plains to the Pacific.
