In Elyria, Ohio, on Memorial Day, 1907, a street car wreck took the lives of a number of young persons enroute to an athletic event. Among the dead was the son of Edgar F. Allen, wealthy business man. They died because there was no hospital in Elyria to give aid. Mr. Allen immediately gave all his energy to the building of the Memorial Hospital, and later to the founding of Gates Hospital for Crippled Children E.C. Kropp Co |
