Hollins College, a liberal arts college founded in
1842, is the oldest chartered woman's college in
Virginia. The duPont Chapel, completed in 1959,
houses two places of worship with a seating capa-
city of about 800. Special features are the Holtkamp
Organ with three manuals, 36 stops and 2,378 pipes,
and a 47-bell carillon cast especially for the college
by Paccard of France.
