ST. JOHNS IN THE WILDERNESS
Flat Rock, North Carolina, Near Hendersonville
The first outpost of the Episcopal Church planted west of
the Blue Ridge in North Carolina was the parish of St. John in
the Wilderness. This building was started in 1833 and in 1836
a group met and organized themselves into a congregation.
