Sadat detailed the growing Soviet presence in the Persian Gulf region and Africa while pressing for more US aid and military equipment. Supporting independence movements in Africa, Sadat also urged Reagan to start talks with the PLO (Palestine Libertarian Organization) but Reagan stayed firm on his Camp David commitments to Israel.
