Former Site of Edward Jackson's Home
Additional Details:
In 1670 Edward Jackson built his saltbox home on this location. Forty-four of his descendants were in the Revolution. One, Major Timothy Jackson, who joined at 15 and served in the Militia, on privateers, and was in a British army prison, built this home in 1809, using some materials from the original house. In 1949 it was given to the City of Newton to serve the community as a museum |
