NEW YORK, U. S. A.
BIGHORN
(Ovis canadensis)
This sure-footed mountaineer, inhabiting high mountain
ridges above timber line in western North America, has
extraordinarily far-seeing eyes, and its other senses are
keen. Except during the breeding season, the rams and
ewes live in separate bands, and before the rut terrific
battles take place between the rams. The massive spiral
horns carried by this individual are the world's record,
measuring 4912 inches.
