This is one of the oldest and most famous of all
the Indian Pueblos. Long before the white man
dreamed of land beyond the Atlantic, the Indians
built "skyscrapers" of which Taos is the best
s surviving example. The Indians are stalwart,
very conservative and little effected by contact
with white men. Nearby is the town of Taos,
home and burial place of Kit Carson, and seat of
the famous Taos Art Colony.
