This monument was erected by the late
Henry Rosenberg, one of Galveston's great-
est philanthropists, as a tribute to the heroes of
the Texas Revolution in 1836; standing as it
does at the intersection of two beautiful esplan-
ades with towering palms for a background, it
is a fitting memorial.
