The statue, which marks the Eastern terminus of the
famous Cody Road of Yellowstone, was designed by the noted
sculptress. Mrs. Harry Payne Whitney, and was erected by the
Buffalo Bill American Association as a memorial to the famous
scout, soldier, hunter and courageous rider of the Pony Express.
