lower left hand corner of the picture. On the
extreme point of land was located the French
Fort Duquesne which was captured by the
British and Colonial forces after being fired
by the retreating French. Fort Pitt was con-
structed at the scene and the location named
Pittsburgh in honor of William Pitt.
