The new 21/2 Million Dollar Highland Park
Bridge across the Allegheny River, joins
Sharpsburg-Aspin wall district and Pittsburgh,
Pa. "The Bridge will provide a gateway to
areas north of Allegheny County in Western
Pennsylvania via Freeport Road (State Route
28) at its northern end and over State Route 8
by way of Sharpsburg. It is the world's first
bridge to provide a concrete dividing strip as
a safety precaution to keep alternate flows of
traffic separated.
