MADISON COUNTY COURTHOUSE SHOWING THE CONFEDERATE MONUMENT JACKSON, TENNESSEE This County furnished more soldiers in the Confederate cause than she had voters. The Confederate Monument was erected to the Con- federate Dead of Madison County in 1888. Battles of the Civil War in which its soldiers participated were Newhope, Franklin, Jonesborough, Chicka- mau ga, Fort Don elson, Shiloh, Atlanta, Kennesaw, Perryville, Brice's Cross Roads, Selma, Belmont, Dibrell's Ridge, Harrisburg, and Parker's Cross Road.
