HOUSTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE
ERIN, TENNESSEE
Houston County, Tenn. was established 1871, named in
honor of Sam Houston, member of Congress from Tennessee,
1823 - 1827. Governor, 1827 - 1829. Moving later to Texas,
he became the leader of the struggle for Independence,
commanded the victorious army at the Battle of San Jacinto,
was the first President of the Republic of Texas, later a
U.S. Senator from Texas and Governor of Texas. Erin, the
county seat of Houston County, Tennessee is a fast growing
trade center of the Tennessee Ridge area of west Tennessee.
