THE CATHOLIC SHRINE
Indian River, Michigan
The Chapel (shown here) is located on M 68 at
the intersection of M 27, just south of Indian
River. To the north of the Chapel is the world's
largest Crucifix. The cross is made from one Cali-
fornia Redwood tree. It is 55 ft. high, 22 ft. wide,
and weighs 14 tons. The Corpus, cast in bronze,
is 31 ft. high, 22 ft. wide, and weighs 4 tons.
The sculptor was the renowned Marshall M.
Fredericks.
