View of Claremont from Grants femt. Claremont
is of more than ordinary interest. The original structure,
built in 1775, has been beautified and enlarged and is a
fashionable dining resort. During its day, Claremont has
entertained men famous in history, among them being
George Washington and Daniel Webster. The Hotel
commands a magnificent view of the Hudson, Palisades,
Jersey shore, Riverside Drive, and Grant's Tomb.
