Latest photograph of the slide at Cucaracha,
Panama. The loose dirt coming down po
mountain side pushed entirely across the floor
of the canal and destroyed all the construction
tracks. At least 1,500,000 cubic yards of earth
will have to be removed from the top of the
slide by the steam-shovels before work at this
point can be resumed.
During the year 1912, about 5,000,000 cubic
yards of dirt slid into this cut, greatly delaying
the work.
