The interior of Piper's Opera House is noted
for its unusual architectural design with
suspended balcony, rake (sloping) stage and
spring dance floor. Here the most famous
performers appeared in the bonanza days:
Adah Isaacs Menken, Mme. Helen Modjeska,
Edwin Booth, Buffalo Bill Cody, Maude
Adams, Lillie Langtry, Emma Nevada, the
Georgia Minstrels, and many others. David
Belasco was stage manager in the early days.
