MAIN STREET, the principal business street in Staunton,
is splendidly paved and lighted by electricity. Being one of
the oldest thoroughfares, it is not very wide, and part of its
space is taken up by a trolley line. On both sides are fine
stores and offices, and the street is usually thronged with people,
especially during Carnival.
