BRIDGE, BERLIN, GERMANY-This build -
ing was begun by Hitzig in 1859 and com-
pleted four years later. It was the first
modern building made of stone instead of
brick ever erected in that city. The main
front overlooks the River Spree. The build-
ing contains the largest hall in Berlin, being
330 feet in length, 88 feet wide and 66 feet
high. In the ante-chamber of the great hall
is a statue of the emperor.
