The Monument. This fluted Doric
column, 202 feet high, was designed by Sir
Christopher Wren, the architect of St.
Paul's. It was erected in 1677. It stands
near by London Bridge, and a superb view
is obtained from the summit, which is
reached by as many steps as there are days
in the year.
