My family moved to Fremont before I entered kindergarten in the early 60's.
I was in that city council chamber on the left side of the building right after it was opened and it was really beautiful inside. My father and I appeared before the council one evening.
That city center was demolished not long after I moved away in 1974.
Such a colossal bonehead mistake by the city of Fremont to build right on top of an already well known major fault and not do a seismic safety study. You can tell just by looking at it that it would not survive a quake the Hayward fault is easily capable of producing. I was told it cost more to demolish than to construct it.
