AMADOR CITY, CALIFORNIA
Amador City is located on Amador Creek and was
only a camp in 1849. The first quartz discovery was
in 1851 when the Rev. Mr. Davidson and three other
preachers hit gold. The men did quite good out of
their claims on week days, and preached for the
good of the miners souls on Sundays. It was in
1869 when the Bonanza vein was discovered and
the first month's milling produced over $40,000.
The Store was built by a man by the name of
Fleethart in 1851. Because of the high production
costs the mines closed down in the late 1880s..M.P.
