A Cranberry
Bog
This is a small section of a cranberry bog.
When picking a spot for a cranberry bog. one must look
for peat soil with drainage. Sand & water must be handy.
A swampy area is the best. After the trees are cut e
the stumps removed the land is leveled. Then a ditch
is dug around the edge,c a network of others through
the interior to drain off the water. The expoşed peat
is covered with a 3 in. layer of sand. By April the bog
is ready for planting The cuttings are set out in rows
6in apart. The roots are pushed through the peat soil.
In 3~4years the bog wall' start bearing.
