THE PLACE TO GO IS IDAHO
What is now Idaho was a wilderness when a
prospecting party led by E. D. Pierce struck gold
late in the summer of 1860. The rush which fol-
lowed led to the location of famous boom towns
and mining districts – Pierce, Florence, Warrens,
the Boise Basin, the Owyhees, Leesburg, the Wood
River mines, the huge modern complex of the
Coeur d'Alene, and many another. Idaho Ter-
ritory was created in 1863
created in 1863 and became the
forty-third state in 1890.
