Additional Details:
What is now Idaho was a wilderness when a prospecting party led by E.D. Pierce struck gold late in the summer of 1860. The rush which followed led to the location of famous boom towns and mining districts - Pierce, Florence, Warrens, teh Boise Basin, the Owyhees, Leesburg, the Wood River mines, the huge modern complex of the Coeru d'Alene, and many another. Idaho Territory was created in 1863 and became the forty-third state in 1890
