In 1876 Thomas A. Edison built a two story
clapboard structure in Menlo Park, N. J. and
made it his laboratory. Here he spent the
greater part of his time and perfected most of
his greatest inventions including that of the
first practical incandescent electric light, the
phonograph, carbon telephone transmitter, the
first low resistance dynamo and the first com.
mercial electric motor on 110 volt circuit.
