the Loudon Company arrived at Cape Henry, but before making
a permanent settlement, spent over two weeks in exploring the
surrounding country, and finally, on May 13th, 1607, landed on
what the colonists named James City or Jamestown, The old
brick tower shown here is all that remains of the first church
