MAJOR SUTHERLIN'S RESIDENCE. Danville,
after the Fall of Richmond, was the last capital of the Con-
federacy. Jefferson Davis and his cabinet were domiciled
there at the home of Major W. T. Sutherlin from April 3rd
until April 10th, 1865. The executive offices were in a old
academy building on Wilson Street.
