First Series
COCKER SPANIEL
Photograph from the Red Heart Series
There are more Cocker Spaniels registered at
the Kennel Club than any other breed-and,
of course, there are thousands more, well-
loved companions in homes throughout the
country, whose names never appear in the
Kennel Club register of pedigree dogs. The
Cocker is, above all things, a merry dog, full
of life and energy. He was primarily bred for
the Sportsman, and trained to flush Woodcock.
The dog in the picture has a golden coloured
coat, but you may find black, blue roan, red
liver and red roan among the many colours
officially permissible in the breed.
