The Dandie Dinmont came originally from the Border
country. He became popular about 100 years ago. He
was originally entirely a sporting terrier. He is very in-
telligent and affectionate, a good guard and house-dog,
and a great fighter under small provocation. He is a very
game dog-a splendid ratter. The Dandie is of two
colours, mustard” (fawn colour) and “pepper” (grey),
He has a long tail, with very short legs, very large and
lustrous eyes, and has a light tuft of hair on his forehead.
