The Oyster Catcher is one of the most retiring of the
Plover tribe and 'yery difficult to approach. Shell-fish
form a large part of its diet, for the opening of which its
hard, chisel-tipped bill is well adapted. From its black
and white plumage it is also called the Sea-pie.
“BRITISH SEA-BIRDS."
