The County was named in 1860 for Daniel
Webster, who was a native of New Hampshire.
He served in the U. S. House of Representa-
tives and the U. S. Senate for a total of 27
years. He was a skilled legislator, persuasive
debator, eloquent orator and lawyer. He
served as Secretary of State under Harrison,
Tyler and Fillmore.
