TRAVIS PARK is really a large plaza, and in it is the grand
monument of the Confederate dead, erected by the daugh-
ters of the Confederacy. The park is one block north of
Houston Street,' and is surrounded by various churches,
St. Mark's Episcopal Church on the northeast corner,
Temple Beth-El on the southeast, and the Travis Park
Methodist Church on the south west.
