A state shrine at Bardstown. The most famous of Kentucky's historical shrines is Federal hill known to millions of Americans as "My Old Kentucky Home." The home was built in 1795 by Judge john Rowan. It was here that Stephen Collins Foster, a cousin of Judge Rowan, received the inspiration to write "My Old Kentucky Home," "Old Black Joe" and many others.
