WREN BUILDING
COLLEGE OF WILLIAM AND MARY
WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA
The foundation for the oldest academic building in continuous use in
the U.S. was laid in 1695, and named after a distinguished 17th Century
architect, Sir Christopher Wren, who probably influenced its design. The
College of William and Mary, the second oldest U.S. college, founded
in 1693, lists many famous students: George Washington, Thomas Jeffer-
son, James Monroe, and John Marshall, to name a few.
