FORT STOCKTON, TEXAS The town was developed with the establish- ment of Fort Stockton Military Post in 1859, an outpost at the crossing of Old San Antonio road and ancient Comanche War Trail. The area represented one of the earliest irrigated farming efforts in Texas.
