The new Air Force Museum was dedicated
on September 3, 1971, by the President of the
United States Richard Nixon. Considered to be
the world's largest and oldest military aviation
museum. It originated in 1923 at McCook Field
near Dayton, Ohio. Measuring 800 ft. long,
240 ft. wide and soaring to a ceiling of 80 ft.,
the six million dollar structure will house up to
80 aircrafts. The building, paid for through
public contributions was donated to the U.S.
Air Force by the Air Force Museum Foundation,
Inc.
