THE INDIAN ELEPHANT.
The Indian Elephant lives in South Asia, and feeds upon vegetation, which it plucks and conveys
to its mouth with its trunk. It has been long domesticated, and is used for carrying and hauling.
Large specimens stand 11 feet high. Another kind, found in Africa, is distinguished by its immense
ears and round forehead. It is as large and docile as the Indian species, but is not domesticated.
