GRANT'S GAZELLE. On the plateau between Victoria
Nyanza and the Rift Valley roam herds of antelopes of
many kinds, including Grant's Gazelle, Oryx Antelopes,
Jackson's Hartebeste, Water Buck, and many other
kinds. It is in this region that the Roosevelt party
are making their finest collection of specimens. This
is a beautiful country, with a climate all the year round
like a New England June. This central plateau is
4,000 or 5,000 feet high, making the climate temperate.
